About me
Hello and welcome to my teaching portfolio!
My name is Rachel Kain, I am a Boston born and raised visual arts educator and artist who has found myself at home in vibrant Albuquerque, New Mexico.
I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture from The Massachusetts College of Art & Design in 2010, and am currently working toward my MA in Art Education with PreK-12 Licensure at the University of New Mexico.
I teach art because I know the art classroom offers the most equitable educational experiences for students of all means, abilities, and skill levels. As an art educator, I strive to create a safe space where any individual student can grow, explore, and exceed their own expectations, through creative expression and skill building. I am motivated by the belief that art is a catalyst for creating caring learning communities and thoughtful prosocial individuals.
As an artist I enjoy working and experimenting in a variety of media including ceramics, paper making, woodworking, sketching, painting, collage and printmaking. I believe by widening my own artistic exploration I can share the excitement of learning new ways of creating with the students in my classroom.
When I am not teaching or creating art you can find me out at my community farmer's market gobbling up donuts or camping, and exploring all over our enchanting state.
