Resources: Student Sketchbook Ideas & Writing Prompts

I was really struck by the free writing prompts as a way to get students involved and to find the joy of writing. I feel I could use the same or similar practices to get my students comfortable with writing and artistic critique using their artists sketchbooks, knowing they are spaces were they can work through their thoughts and ideas. I found some resources regarding art and writing prompts, in addition to Cassie Stevens' idea for recycling sketchbooks, so every student has one.

Also, the last resource is a set of silly drawing prompts, to inspire students to create in their sketchbook, which would be a great bell ringer or sponge activity when students finish an art work early. I like this list though, would possible create a mad libs style silly drawing prompt, where students write down silly animals and actions or ideas and pick two out of a hat to draw. This way I am engaging them in the writing process as well. That way they can see their hand and ideas in every part of the creative process.
